KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 23 (AFP) - One of the six children of detained former deputy premier Anwar Ibrahim was recuperating late Wednesday after being rushed to hospital from the family's sealed off home here.

Anwar's wife Wan Azizah Wan Ismail broke off preparations to give a press conference to a handful of journalists blocked in the family yard so she could go to hospital with 11-year-old daughter Nurul Ilham.

The child, who was clearly in distress, was carried on the shoulders of a family aide who said the fourth of the six children had a fever.

Upon their return, Azizah said she took her daughter to a hospital where she used to do voluntary work as an opthamologist.

''She was quite distraught,'' Azizah said. ''She has a little bit of a viral fever but symptomatically she has a little bit more because she misses her father.''

Azizah said two of the six children went to school Wednesday.

''They didn't like it. My elder one was told by the teacher to say ... I don't want to talk about it. That was the one who had fever.

''The second one just told me 'mamma I don't want to go to school tomorrow because they keep on asking about papa and I don't like that.'"

'' Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad, who fired Anwar as his deputy on September 2, said earlier that Anwar was arrested for inciting violence but that he also faced charges of sexual misconduct. ''I cannot accept a man who is a sodomist to be a leader of this country,'' he said.

Anwar, who says the multitude of allegations against him amount to a high-level conspiracy, is being held under the draconian internal security act which allows for indefinite detention without trial.
