KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 16 (Reuters) - Malaysia's sacked finance minister Anwar Ibrahim will be charged for holding public assemblies without a permit, the national Bernama news agency quoted a senior police official as saying.

Inspector General of Police Abdul Rahim Noor was quoted as saying late on Tuesday Anwar had contravened the Police Act and that the police would take appropriate action. Abdul Rahim Noor did not say if Anwar would be arrested for the charges.
